Bank sync
Bica connects to your bank through regulated Open Banking (PSD2) providers — the same technology used by other finance apps. When you link an account, you authenticate directly with your bank; Bica never sees or stores your bank login credentials.
How often we sync
Once connected, Bica automatically checks for new transactions roughly every 12 hours. Each sync pulls in any new transactions and updated account balances since the last check — you don't need to do anything manually.
Syncing on demand
Don't want to wait for the next automatic sync? Each connected account has a manual "sync now" option in your dashboard, so you can pull in the latest transactions right before checking your numbers.
What happens right after a sync
New transactions arrive with the raw description your bank gives them (often a cryptic string of codes and abbreviations). At this point they don't yet have a recognized merchant or a category — that happens in the next two steps of the pipeline, described in merchant recognition and categorization.
Read-only access
Bica only ever requests read-only access to your accounts. We can see your balances and transaction history, but we can never move money, make payments, or take any action on your accounts.
Supported banks & countries
Bica connects to over 2,500 banks across 30+ European countries through our regulated Open Banking provider. This includes major banks like Revolut, N26, Wise, Monzo, Millennium BCP, Caixa Geral, and many more. If your bank offers Open Banking (PSD2) access — which almost all EU/EEA and UK banks do — it's supported.
Account types
You can connect as many accounts as you need, across as many banks and countries as you like — current (checking) accounts, savings accounts, and other account types your bank exposes through Open Banking. Every account you connect shows up side by side in one unified dashboard, so you don't need to switch between banking apps to see the full picture.
